
MISSION
The Mexican Cultural Institute of Washington, D.C. is committed to enriching the relationship between Mexico and the United States by sharing Mexico's vibrant cultural past and present with the local community. Since its establishment in 1990, the Institute has succeeded in presenting diverse, ongoing cultural programas and has become a thriving artistic center in the heart of Washington.
Over the past two decades, the Institute has developed cultural programming in partnership with many institutions in the nation's capital including the Smithsonian Institution, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Gallery of Art, the Library of Congress, among others,
The Mexican Cultural Institute is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that relies on private, corporate and foundation support to fulfill its mission.
OUTREACH PROGRAM
Through a restructured Outreach Progam, we have extended invitations to students from around the Washington Metropolitan area. We welcome our younger audiences to the Institute to learn about the vibrancy of Mexican Culture and develop a deeper cultural awareness. Guided Tours are available, free of charge.
HOURS
Monday to Friday 10 am to 6 pm
Saturday 12 to 4 pm (Saturday hours are only in effect during exhibition runs)
Special Visits Tours of the Institute are also available to groups and organizations. These visits cover the history of the 100 year old mansion that houses the Institute and an explanation of its renowned murals. To schedule a tour, please contact Arlene Alvarez at aalvarez@instituteofmexicodc.org or at 202.728.1628 at least one month prior to your visit. While we make every effort to facilitate all requests, tours are subject to availability. If possible, please propose multiple dates.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Our recently refurbished 16th Street Mansion is an elegant and historic venue, perfect for your special events. We are pleased to offer the use of our finely decorated second floor spaces which include a Music Room, a Drawing Room and a Dining Room.
The various rooms of our space can be tailored to accomodate your event. The Talavera Room is perfect for more intimate gatherings, while our Music or Drawing Rooms are ideal for moderately sized cocktail receptions and conferences, and our Dining Room is a grand but personal space, suitable for more formal gatherings. Your event may use any combination of these spaces.

Our space can accommodate a maximum of 120 guests for a seated dinner and 350 guests for a cocktail reception.

The Mansion has a fully equipped kitchen.
